A man is fished out of a river and taken to a hospital where he briefly dies. After he revives, it's discovered that he is a nuclear research scientist, has been contaminated with radioactive material, and is oddly uncommunicative. A reporter investigates, and with the help of the scientist's doctor and the police, uncovers a plot to destroy the scientist's work as well as part of London.

Based on A Book
I remember this move quite clearly. I was in my teens when it came out.THE ATOMIC MAN is based on a book called THE ISOTOPE MAN. Kind of neat, that 7 1/2 second delay.

Good film
Love 50s sci-fi but had never seen this one. Clever plot and good acting all-around.As previously noted the picture is pretty dark but watchable.

I was surprised...
This film was pretty darned good1 The acting is far better than I expected. The script is really smart as well. This barely passes for science fiction, while it IS science, and it IS fiction, it's more about espionage. I don't want to give away the plot, but they could have done more with the little bit of sci-fi factor there was. The print is a bit dark, but still, quite enjoyable. Give it a look. It'll suck you in.
